Chiropractic and Pregnancy
For many women, pregnancy means aches, pains, and discomfort. After all, your body is changing to accommodate at least one growing human! Chiropractic can be a great addition to your prenatal life by helping to have a more pleasant pregnancy, easier delivery, and a faster recovery following birth.
Is it safe to be adjusted while pregnant?
Yes! Dr. Beth is Webster Certified and has experience adjusting women through all stages of pregnancy. She has a variety of adjustment methods she is able to use, so the adjustment of a pregnant mom will be specific to fit her changing body and accomodate the baby bump.
How do you adjust a pregnant mom?
We utilize several sizes of pregnancy pillows to help with mom’s comfort and supporting the belly while laying face down. From there, Dr. Beth will gently adjust the sacrum and help realign the pelvis, check the alignment of the spine, and work on the ligaments around the uterus to ease some of the tension for mom and give baby room to go into the proper position. The Webster Technique has been successful for getting babies into a better position for birth by balancing the mother’s pelvis, and is not a turning technique. We do not do “breech turning” or External Version. Chiropractic adjustments during pregnancy are meant to align the mother’s body, and often the baby follows into a better position naturally.
What are the benefits?
Chiropractic can help with many things during pregnancy! Adjustments can help the mama with reduced pain, increased energy, better sleep, and reduced labor and delivery time. Baby can also benefit from regular adjustments to mom before birth! With chiropractic care and proper pelvis alignment, baby will have more room in Utero to grow and develop. A balanced pelvis also helps to guide baby into a good position for delivery, and there are often better birth outcomes and less intervention during delivery.
